Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa is for invited workers, and eligible Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passports holders with skills Australia need, to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia.

Requirements

Point Test Stream

​

  1. May have certain prerequisite visas for certain situations/applications 

  2. Receive Invitation to Apply 

  3. Have a suitable skills assessment 

  4. Under the age of 45 

  5. Obtain the required point under the points test 

  6. Have competent English (e.g. IELTS at least 6 of each component) 

  7. Your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations 

Hong Kong Stream

​

  1. Hold eligible visa such as subclass 457, 482 or 485 visas at the time your visa application is made 

  2. Complied with the conditions attached to your eligible visa when in Australai 

  3. Hold Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport 

  4. Live in Australia for 4 year 

  5. Have functional English (e.g. IELTS at least  4.5 of each component) 

Procedure

Step 1: Retain Anlex Consultants to submit an Expression of Interest 

Step 2: Provide supporting documents 

Step 3: Receive Invitation to Apply 

Step 4: Submit the formal Application within 60 days 

Step 5: Receive the result of your Application
